Load Cells are used to measure load in rockbolts, tendons or anchor cables. For using it as a solid load cell the instrument is supplied with top and bottom plates. Load Cells are available in a variety of ranges and dimensions.

The Load Cells of PMT are designed to measure tensile loads in tieback anchors, rock bolts or compressive loads in structures. It comprises a set of upto six VW gauges mounted parallel to the cell axis and equally spaced in an steel alloy cylindrical housing. Loads applied to the cell are measured by the vibrating wire strain gages thus converting into an electrical signal which is transmitted to the readout unit.

Electrical resistance strain gages are bonded in full bridge configurations to the periphery of the spool for temperature stability and for compensation of eccentric loading. When load is applied on the cell, the strain gauges output electric signal which is transmitted to the readout unit.

The Hydraulic Load Cell of PMT is designed to monitor tensile load in tieback anchors, rock bolts, retaining walls or compressive load in structures. The Load Cell consists of two ring shaped stainless steel plates welded together around their circumference. The annular space between the plates is filled under vaccum by de-aired oil. The pressure in the load cell is measured by manometer.

The Electro-mechanical Load Cell of PMT is specially designed to measure the load by mechanical readout as well as electrical readout simultaneously. For mechanical output it is constructed by a set of lever arches mounted on the longitudinal axis of the cell. When load is applied on the cell, change in tension causes corresponding change in mechanical readout unit. For electrical output, when load is applied to the cell are measured by the Potentiometer thus converting into an electrical signal which is transmitted to the electrical readout unit.
