Embedment Strain Gages are used to monitor strain in reinforced concrete and massive concrete structures. Change in stress is determined by multiplying the measured strain by the modulus of elasticity.

The Embedment Strain Gauge of PMT comprises of a vibrating wire strain element sealed within a gauge tube and tensioned between two end flanges. With the gauge embedded within concrete, deformation of the concrete mass causes the two gauge flanges to move relative to one another, thus altering the tension in the steel wire. As the tension of wire changes, its natural frequency of vibration change which is transmitted through a cable to the readout unit.

The Surface Mount Strain Gauge of PMT comprises of two anchors that are secured to the concrete surface that is to be monitored.  When load is applied to the structure the deformation of the structure changes the position of the anchors and the frequency output produces a proportional change which is transmitted through a cable to the readout unit.

Spot Weldable Strain Gauges are used to monitor strain in steel structures and on reinforcement bars where space may be limited. Change in stress is determined by multiplying the measured strain by the modulus of elasticity.

The Spot Weldable Strain Gauge of PMT can be spot welded or epoxy bonded on steel structures, re-inforced bars and struts. It can also be epoxy bonded on concrete structures. The gauge is pre-tensioned by a small compression spring. Initial tension is set during installation, allowing for maximum range in tension or compression as required. A sensor coil housing arrangement mounted over the strain gauge completely encloses the sensor, forming a watertight enclosure. When load is applied to the steel member, the deformation of the structure changes thus the frequency output produces a proportional change which is transmitted through a cable to the readout unit.

Rebar Strain Meter is used to measure strains in foundations, slurry walls, precastpiles, caissons, bridge abutments, dams, tunnel lining etc.

The Rebar Strain Meter of PMT consists of a hollow bar with VW strain gauge mounted inside. The hollow bar is extended on the two sides with reinforced bars of diameters varying as per site condition. The Rebar Strain meter s designed to be integral part of the existing rebar cage, while Sister Bar is designed for getting it installed by tying it alongside an existing length of rebar in the rebar cage. When compressive or tensile stress is induced into the bar, there is change in tension of the vibrating wire inside the transducer which is transmitted through a cable to the readout unit.

STRAIN METER (REBAR) SISTER BAR

Borehole Stressmeters are designed to measure stress changes in rock and can be installed in boreholes of depth upto 35 meters.

The Borehole Stressmeter of PMT consists of a highly tensioned steel wire stretched across the diameter of a stainless steel proving ring. The proving ring is wedged tightly inside the borehole and when a stress change occurs the ring is distorted. This distortion causes change in the tension of the wire, altering its natural resonant frequency which is transmitted through a cable to the readout unit.
