Tilt Meter is used to monitor inclination and vertical rotation in structures such as dams, old monuments, high rise buildings, retaining walls and slopes etc. Tiltmeter data can provide an accurate history of movement of a structure and early warning of potential structural damage.

The VW Tilt Meter of PMT is designed for attachment to the structure to be monitored by means of an adjustable bracket and expandable anchor to make measurements on horizontal or vertical surfaces. The sensor comprises of a pendulous mass supported by vibrating wire transducer and the elastic hinge. The sensor measures changes in force caused by the relation of the centre of gravity of mass. As the tilt increases or decreases the mass attempts to rotate beneath the hinge point and the tension in the vibrating wire changes thus converting into an electrical signal which is transmitted to the readout unit.

The Portable Meter of PMT is rugged in construction with aluminum sensor housing and having highly accurate MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) tilt sensor. The system includes tilt plates, a portable tilt meter and a readout unit. The surface of the frame are machined to allow an accurate positioning of the tilt meter during measurement. Measurement can be done on horizontal or vertical surfaces.

TILT METER (MEMS)

The Plumbline is used for monitoring horizontal movements in dams, dam foundations, abutments and to determine the structural movements of bridges, piers, towers and tall buildings.

The Direct Plumb Line of PMT consists of a steel wire anchored at the upper end to the structure, with a tensioning weight suspended at the lower end which is free to move in a tank filled by a damping fluid. A tilt in the structure brings about a shift in the weight which is measured by the readout unit.

The Inverted Plumb Line of PMT provides a fixed datum from which structural movements can be measured. It uses the identical wire anchored in firm soil beneath the structure, with a floating unit fixed to its upper end. The floating unit is free to move in a fluid tank keeping the wire vertically. A tilt or displacement in the foundation brings about a shift in the float which is measured by the readout unit.
